Reach the Summit of La Malinche

The fifth highest peak in Mexico offers a great diversity of landscapes. We begin in the forested zone with a gentle hike, enjoying its sights, smells, and sounds. Further ahead, the landscape changes drastically as we leave the forest and encounter sparse vegetation, mainly grasses and thistles. Finally, upon reaching the rocky zone, we will find ourselves at the summit.

Additional Information

• Drink plenty of water the day before
• Eat carbohydrates for dinner
• Get a good night's sleep
• Avoid alcoholic beverages 24 hours before
• Have a light breakfast on the day of the hike
• Wear previously used hiking boots with thick soles
• Wear thick, long socks, preferably wool
• Wear comfortable and warm walking pants
• Wear a nylon or synthetic fiber shirt
• Wear a thick jacket
• Bring a raincoat
• Wear a warm hat
• Use sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30
• Wear sunglasses with UV protection
• Bring gloves
• Bring a towel
• Bring a complete change of clothes (shirt, pants, underwear, socks)
• Bring sneakers or sandals
• Bring a sweater or jacket

Itinerary

1. Meeting: 7 am (15 minutes grace period)
2. We head to the mountain
3. Arrival and preparation for the hike: 9 am (depending on traffic)
4. Pre-hike briefing by our guide
5. Start of the hike: 9:15 am
6. End of the hike: 4 pm (depending on the group's pace)
7. Meal on our own: 5 pm
8. Return to the meeting point: 8 pm
